HE WHO DARES TO FLY

How did you get started in Parkour?

It all started when I was 12. Back then I used to play football passionately and I was rather good, I may add. One day, I spotted a child who was performing parkour – such a different sport at the time. He was looking for his cardigan, which I finally found. I gave it to him and -just for the fun of it as I was a young kid- I naively said “Ha, ha, now you owe me one”, and he replied “OK, what do you want?”, so I asked him to teach me Parkour. That’s how it all started…

What does one need to do Parkour?;

First of all, patience and eagerness! Everything else can be cultivated in time… In practical terms, you need a bag containing a track suit, sneakers, a change of clothes, a water bottle and you’re ready to go!

What should one who performs Parkour pay attention to?

When someone performs Parkour, they must always be focused and in control of the environment they are moving in, so they can predict what is behind each obstacle they are going to overcome. Avoid “YOLO” moves in general.

DARE TO FLY

What is your biggest dream?

ΤMy biggest dream, hmm… Thank God, the truth is that my biggest dreams so far have come true! Something, however, that I only carry as an image in my mind since I was a child, is to build a place, a gym that will be focused on Parkour, but will also host other street sports and activities, which -unfortunately- in Greece don’t  have an official “home” or support! Like for example Skateboarding, Breakdancing, Street Workout, Street Football, Street Basket etc.! I imagine a space big enough to hold all these communities together, keeping them warm in the winter and cool in the summer!

What do you wish to the children for the new school year?

I wish to every child out there, to achieve in the new school year whatever they couldn’t in the previous one. To find what they like in life and love it as far as it takes them! Or at least try as many things as you can, until you find what you really desire! Don’t let anyone tell you that what you want to do “Can’t be done” simply because “only few people can do it”. EVERYTHING CAN BE DONE with faith, patience, and persistence. With or without support!
